The Life Saving Award was presented to Alan Wert for his quick action taken at the scene of a house fire on August 23rd, 2010 at 420 Spencer Avenue in Lancaster Township, PA. Wert rushed into the burning home to save Richard Reynolds, 81, a Vietnam War veteran who uses a wheelchair. Wert found Reynolds and carried him out the front door to safety while flames were engulfing the back of the single-family home. The Lancaster Township Fire Department wishes to express our sincere gratitude.
