Saturday July 14, 2001, Funeral services were held at the Groff Funeral Home, 234 West Orange St., Lancaster, PA. The viewing was held from 9-10am and the memorial service from 10-11am. Firefighters brought apparatus from throughout Lancaster County to pay their respects. Orange street in front of the funeral home was closed by the Lancaster City Police Department due to the amount of engines, ladders and squad trucks parked on the street.

An Honor Guard stood by the casket and usered guests to their seats. Honor Guards were; Jay and Heather Hatfield, Krista Marrero, Ed and Scott Slaymaker, Diane Wiker and Lori Witmer. Father Michael Graab, the Parish Priest at Sacred Heart Of Jesus Roman Cathloic Church conducted the service. Fire Chief Glenn Usdin and Patrick Egan provided the eulogy for friends and family. After the service the pallbearers escorted the casket to the awaiting hearse. Pallbearers were Assistant Chief Keith Rankin, Randy Houser, Tim Zimmerman, Greg Kolb, Jim Roop Jr., Chris Mosso, John Hellman, Denny Zipp and Jeff Reitchey. As the casket emerged from the doorway of the funeral home members and friends with their hand over their heart flanked the pathway to the hearse.
